aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-7261\"><p>This polymer has remarkable transparency (92% average transmission) in the visible range from 380 to 780 nm.<\/p>\n<p>PMMA is an amorphous or non-crystallised polymer with a glass transition temperature of between 110 and 135\u00b0C. As a result, at room temperature it is hard, rigid and brittle, with little elongation. PMMA is hygroscopic and, under extreme conditions, absorbed water will act as a plasticiser and alter the material&#8217;s properties. Its creep is fairly limited. When the critical stress is exceeded, PMMA is subject to cracking (fine cracks). This phenomenon is accentuated in the presence of corrosive agents (alcohol, petrol, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>Impact resistance is relatively low and the polymer is brittle. This resistance can be improved by adding an anti-shock agent. PMMA resists scratches well under normal conditions of use. However, when cleaned frequently or used in a dusty environment, it can be scratched. Its resistance to electric arcs is excellent. This material is electrostatic, which can affect its appearance (dust attraction). Its moulding shrinkage is low (0.4 to 0.7%), as with other non-crystallised polymers. As its coefficient of linear expansion is very different from that of metals and its elasticity is low, it is not advisable to use metal inserts in an injected PMMA part.<br \/>\nThe maximum operating temperature is low (&lt;85\u00b0C). Welding is limited to high frequencies, hot gas and ultrasound.
